Local visitors can enjoy special entry ticket rates when visiting Pigeon Island. This includes Sri Lankan citizens and resident visa holders. Everyone must present their National ID card, Sri Lankan passport, or Sri Lanka driving licence at the counter.
Please note: Entry tickets are issued by the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) at the Nilaveli counter before departure. We will assist you in purchasing the entry tickets.

Pigeon Island is a protected marine national park. All visitors must follow strict rules to preserve its beauty:
🚫 Do not touch or step on corals.
Even a small touch can kill living coral.
🐢 Do not chase or disturb marine animals.
Maintain a respectful distance from turtles and reef sharks.
🧃 Do not litter.
Take all plastic bottles, food wrappers, and personal items back to shore.
⚓ No glass-bottom boats or anchoring on reefs.
These are strictly prohibited inside the Pigeon Island region.
🎵 Avoid loud music or noise pollution.
Keep the environment calm and peaceful for wildlife and other visitors.
🚭 Smoking and alcohol consumption are not allowed within the park limits.
Violation of any of these rules may result in fines or permanent bans from the park by the Wildlife Department.

The ideal time for snorkeling at Pigeon Island is from April to September. During this period, the sea is calm and visibility is excellent. During the monsoon months (October–February), sea conditions can be rough, and tours may be limited.
