A marine national park in Sri Lanka that’s home to a diverse array of marine life and coral reefs. Location: Located 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli, a coastal town in Eastern Province. Size: The park covers 471.429 hectares, with only 9 hectares on land. Features: The island is home to a 200 m long and 100 m wide coral reef with over 100 species of coral. The reef is home to over 300 types of tropical reef fish. History: The island was used as a shooting range during the colonial era and during World War II. It was designated as a sanctuary in 1963 and became a national park in 2003. Popularity: A popular park in Sri Lanka that’s considered one of the best places to snorkel in the country.

It is located north of Trincomalee and just in front of the Pigeon Island. We can arrange pick you up at your hotel and will drive you by Car Van Tuk Tuk to the departure point. On the way back home, you will have the opportunity to stop by at our The Rice and Curry Seafood Nilaveli for a quick lunch, a refreshing drink or simply to chill out. You might want to combine your visit to Pigeon Island with an additional tour.
